A Brief Meaning of Easter
Easter is one of the principal holidays that we celebrate every year. It has been celebrated as it is today in the U.S. since the early 1700's. While the exact origins of the Easter Bunny and giving of baskets of eggs and candy are unknown, many believe these customs were brought here with the German immigrants of the early 1700's.
Easter, Eostre, Eostrae, the Anglo-Saxon goddess of Spring and Fertility. This is where we get the name given to the holiday that we celebrate. It represents the Christianity belief that Jesus was resurrected 3 days after his death ordered by Pontius Pilate sometime between 26-36 AD.
